Stay in a chalet in the northern alps

A stay that suits you

Renting a chalet in the Northern Alps lets each day follow the rhythm of skiing, with plenty of time left to enjoy the moments spent back at the chalet. Chalets set at the foot of the slopes or close to the lifts make early starts and late-afternoon returns easier, a genuine advantage for families or groups with different skiing levels.

Once the skis are put away, the indoor spaces take over naturally: a large sitting room around the fireplace, a welcoming dining room and quiet corners for relaxing mean everyone can gather without needing to go out again.

In some chalets, an indoor pool, a sauna, a hammam or a jacuzzi complete this sense of a mountain retreat. Service can be part of the experience too: depending on the property, this might include a private chef, breakfast prepared on site or house staff.

Where to rent a chalet in the Northern Alps?

The Chalet Exclusive collection brings together chalets across many resorts in the Northern Alps, from Savoie to Haute-Savoie. Among the most sought-after destinations, several stand out for their ski area, altitude or atmosphere:

Courchevel: at the heart of the 3 Vallées, this resort suits those looking for a vast ski area, chalets close to the slopes and an especially wide choice of restaurants and services.
Méribel: also part of the 3 Vallées, it appeals for its alpine architecture and central position within the ski area. In Méribel-Mottaret, the altitude and proximity to the slopes make it particularly well suited to ski-focused stays.
Val d'Isère: a favourite among skiers looking for a high-altitude ski area, varied slopes and a lively resort after skiing.
Tignes: valued for its altitude and quick access to the slopes, it is particularly well suited to those who want to spend most of their stay skiing.
Megève: a good choice for those who want to combine skiing with the charm of an alpine village, fine dining and resort life.
Chamonix: at the foot of Mont Blanc, it appeals especially to lovers of high mountains, mountaineering and sweeping alpine scenery.

These resorts are among the main destinations in our collection of chalets in the Alps, alongside other resorts such as La Plagne, Morzine, Les Arcs and Val Thorens.

Things to see and do in the northern alps

Winter remains the standout season in the Northern Alps, home to some of Europe's largest ski areas. Courchevel, Méribel, Val d'Isère, Tignes and Chamonix each offer very different terrain for skiing and snowboarding, from gentle runs to more demanding routes.

Beyond alpine skiing, the resorts make it easy to plan snowshoe outings, cross-country skiing, sledging or dog-sledding. Paragliding offers another way to take in the mountains, while Megève and Chamonix are also well suited to a stroll through their lively centres after a day outdoors.

Summer changes the programme entirely: hiking, mountain biking, climbing and via ferrata take over. Around some of the region's alpine lakes, swimming and water sports round out the day, as does golf in several resorts.
